Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine mud moxibustion combined with conventional Western medicine treatment on pain and knee function in patients with early to mid-stage knee osteoarthritis,to verify its effectiveness and feasibility, and to provide some basis and guidance for clinical application and promotion. Methods:A total of 60 patients with early to mid-stage knee osteoarthritis who chose conservative treatment from January 2021 to December 2021 in the Department of Orthopedic Trauma,Ningde Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected, and the 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria were numbered(01-60)and divided into 30 cases in the test group and 30 cases in the control group according to a random number table. The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine, and the experimental group was treated with Chinese herbal mud moxibustion on top of the conventional treatment for a total of 4 weeks. The changes of VAS score,Lequesne score and knee ROM were collected and recorded before and after treatment in both groups, and the data were statistically and analytically analyzed.Results:1.A total of 3 cases were shed in this study, including 1 case in the test group and 2cases in the control group, and a total of 57 valid cases were collected.2.The general data(gender, age, height, weight, affected side)of the cases before treatment were compared between the two groups, and the differences were not statistically significant(P > 0.05)and were comparable. The VAS score,Lequesne score and knee ROM before treatment were statistically compared between the two groups, and the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05)and were comparable.3.Intra-group comparison: VAS score,Lequesne score, and knee ROM in both groups were better than those before treatment after 4 weeks of treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Between-group comparison: After 4weeks of treatment in both groups, the differences in VAS scores and Lequesne scores were statistically significant(P < 0.05),and the test group was better than the control group. The difference in knee ROM before and after treatment between the two groups was not statistically significant(P > 0.05),indicating that the efficacy of the two groups was comparable.4.Comparison of clinical efficacy: In terms of pain, the significant rate of the test group was 79.31% and that of the control group was 28.57%,and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05),indicating that the pain efficacy of the test group was better than that of the control group. In terms of knee function, the effective rate was96.55% in the test group and 78.57% in the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P < 0.05),indicating that the efficacy of knee function in the test group was better than that in the control group. Conclusion: Chinese mud moxibustion combined with conventional Western treatment is more effective than conventional Western treatment alone in improving knee pain and knee function in patients with early to mid-stage knee osteoarthritis, and is worthy of clinical application and promotion. |
