Objective: To provide new ways for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea through observing the clinical effect of acupuncture at Shu-Mu points of liver, spleen and kidney. Methods: 72 cases of primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into two equal groups. The Shu-Mu group were treated with acupuncture at Shu-Mu points of liver, spleen and kidney, and the western medicine group were treated with oral administration of Ibuprofen sustained release capsules. The clinical therapeutic effects were observed three months after treatments for three consecutive menstrual cycles, with Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)and COX Menstrual Symptom Scale(CMSS)applied for efficacy evaluation and Statistical Product and Service Solutions(SPSS)software used for statistical analysis.Results:1.No statistically significant differences in age, course of disease,VAS score and CMMS score between the two groups(P>0.05)were found before the treatment.2.Comparison of VAS scores: After 3 courses of treatment, the VAS scores of the two groups decreased with significant difference(P<0.01),indicating that both treatments were effective. The comparison of the VAS scores between the two groups during the treatment phase showed that the clinical effects were equivalent(P>0.05),and the comparison during the follow-up period showed that the VAS score of the Shu-Mu group was lower than that of the western medicine group, suggesting that the efficacy of the Shu-Mu group was superior to that of the other group(P<0.05).3.Comparison of CMSS scores(intensity and time): After 3 courses of treatment, the CMSS scores of both groups decreased with significant difference(P<0.01),proving that both groups had therapeutic effects on primary dysmenorrhea.Comparing the CMSS scores between the two groups during the treatment phase, there was a more significant decrease in Shu-Mu group, indicating that the curative effect of the Shu-Mu group was better than that of the western medicine group(P<0.05),the result of which was the same as that in the follow-up period(P<0.05).4.Comparison of clinical efficacy: After 3 courses of treatment, the total effective rate of the Shu-Mu group and the western medicine group was 84.85% and 87.10% respectively with no statistical significance(P>0.05),while it decreased to 81.82% and 67.74%respectively three months after the end of treatment, indicating that the total effective rate was superior in the Shu-Mu group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The treatments of the two groups were both effective in treating primary dysmenorrhea. The short-term clinical effects were comparable and the long-term clinical effect was better in the Shu-Mu group.2.In terms of pain improvement, the short-term analgesic effects of the two groups were not comparable and the clinical curative effects were equivalent, while the long-term analgesic effect was better in the Shu-Mu group.3.Acupuncture at Shu-Mu points of liver, spleen and kidney could reduce the CMSS score and improve the accompanying symptoms in patients with primary dysmenorrhea, the clinical efficacy of which was better than that of oral Ibuprofen sustained release capsules. |
