Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of warm-tonifying-kidney and spleen acupuncture combined with mild moxibustion therapy versus conventional drug therapy in treating lumbar disc herniation(LDH)of the spleen-kidney yang deficiency type, and to investigate the advantages and feasibility of the former method. This study provides new ideas and methods for clinical treatment. Methods: A total of 60 patients with LDH of the spleen-kidney yang deficiency type were included in this study and divided into a treatment group and a control group based on their different treatment methods. The treatment group received warm-tonifying-kidney and spleen acupuncture combined with mild moxibustion therapy, while the control group received conventional Western medicine treatment. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The visual analog scale(VAS),Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)and Japanese Orthopaedic Association Scores(JOA)were recorded before treatment,at the end of the first and second courses of treatment. The clinical efficacy was evaluated based on the JOA improvement index standard.Data were processed using SPSS22.0 software. Results: 1.Before treatment, there were no significant differences in gender, age, disease duration,VAS,ODI and JOA scores between the two groups(P>0.05),indicating comparability.2.Comparing the outcomes before and after treatment, both groups showed decreases in VAS and ODI scores, while JOA scores increased, with significant differences observed between pre-and post-treatment situations in both groups(P<0.05).The treatment group showed significantly lower VAS and ODI scores than the control group after treatment, while JOA scores were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),indicating that the pain symptoms of the treatment group were effectively improved compared to those of the control group.3.The total effective rate of the treatment group was 93.3%,which was significantly higher than that of the control group(73.3%),with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion: 1.Based on the results of VAS and ODI scores before and after treatment of both groups,it was found that warm-tonifying-kidney and spleen acupuncture combined with mild moxibustion therapy was more effective than the control group in relieving pain and improving lumbar dysfunction.2.Based on the JOA scores before and after treatment of both groups,it was found that warm-tonifying-kidney and spleen acupuncture combined with mild moxibustion therapy was more effective in improving clinical symptoms, lumbar function and pathological signs than the control group.3.Based on the overall clinical efficacy of both groups,it was found that warm-tonifying-kidney and spleen acupuncture combined with mild moxibustion therapy could effectively alleviate pain symptoms, lumbar dysfunction, and pathological signs in patients with LDH of the spleen-kidney yang deficiency type. The treatment is safe, effective, and has a small adverse effect, which is increasingly recognized and accepted by patients and deserves to be promoted and applied. |
