| Objective: Through comparative research, this project observed the efficacy of flavored body pain decoction combined with external Chinese medicine on knee osteoarthritis in the elderly(evidence of qi stasis and blood stasis),which provided a clinical basis for the treatment of elderly knee osteoarthritis with flavored body pain decoction combined with external application of traditional Chinese medicine, thereby providing a new method and idea for the further promotion of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of this disease. Methods: From June 2021 to October 2022,64 patients were taken to the Second Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine’s First Affiliated Hospital. The patients opted all met Western medicine’s diagnostic criteria for knee osteoarthritis.and TCM was identified as knee joint pain and Qi stasis and blood stasis. It was split into two groups: one for the control group and one for the treatment group, with 32 people in each.As in control group, celecoxib capsules were taken orally twice a day,one capsule after each meal,in addition to routine treatment.Treatment group: take orally modified Shentong Zhuyu Decoction twice a day,one dose for every morning and evening, and after meals;Apply Wuwei Gujuba Powder externally every night, once a day,for 8h,and wash it in the morning.A program of therapy was three weeks, and both groups were treated for three weeks. The VAS score,WOMAC score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP),and TCM syndrome scale score of the two groups’ hips and knees were recorded before and after treatment for 1 week,3 weeks, and 6 weeks, respectively, and the results were analyzed and compared.Result:1.A majority of 64 patients were selected to participate in this research, with two people in the control group falling out because of adverse gastrointestinal reactions.2people in the treatment group dropped out the test because they failed to adhere to the drug; Therefore, the data from 60 patients who met the requirements of the experiment(the control group: 30 people, the treatment group: 30 people)was analyzed.2.After statistical analysis, there was no obvious difference in age, sex, course of disease and affected limb between the two groups, which were comparable, and the samples were from the same population.3.The differences in VAS scores and WOMAC scores between the two groups before and after treatment(1 week,3 weeks and 6 weeks)were statistically significant, and the VAS scores and WOMAC scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).4.The erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)and C-reactive protein levels were different in the two groups before and after treatment. The ESR and C-reactive protein levels in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, which was statistically significant(P<0.05).5.Overall curative effect evaluation: The curative effect level of the two groups was statistically compared by using the scoring method of TCM syndrome scale. The treatment group was significantly worse than the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion: This study suggests that oral application of traditional Chinese medicine combined with external application of traditional Chinese medicine and oral application of western medicine can achieve certain efficacy in the treatment of elderly knee osteoarthritis, but the effect of flavored body pain soup combined with five-flavored osteoarthritis is better, especially in the relief of knee pain and the overall improvement of osteoarthritis, and it is improved compared with oral western medicine treatment in terms of limb function rehabilitation and improvement of some inflammatory indicators, which is worthy of clinical promotion and use. |
