A Practice Report On Translation Accuracy Of Dictionary Of Aeronautical Terms(Excerpt)

Translation accuracy is the most basic requirement of translation and the embodiment of high-quality translation.Accurate translation refers to correct understanding and reproduction of the source text information to realize no deviation or omission information.This translation practice report is discussed about the translation accuracy of the terms and their definitions and explanations in the Dictionary of Aeronautical Terms(7th edition).The report summarizes and analyzes the problems of translation accuracy of aeronautical terms and their interpretations and concludes the principles and methods to be followed.The accurate translation is discussed from three aspects.The motivation principle of terminology translation is used to accurately understand the connotation of the concept and reproduce the form of terminology;the correct understanding of the conceptual content of the original text is ensured from different disciplines and industries,namely the register;the systematicity principle of terminology translation is used to distinguish the relationship of terminology translation between homotheticity and hyponymy in the same conceptual system.The sentence structure and logical relationships are adjusted to achieve the reproduction of source text information.The principle of literal translation is adopted as the first choice and any adaptation needs to be reduced to achieve no deviation or omission information in the target text.
