The Researchon Zhen Jun And His Writings

Guaerjia Zhen Jun(1857-1920)was a famous litterateur,calligrapher,painter and scholar of the Eight Banners during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China.Zhen Jun was born in a family of Manchu that has been an official for generations,but he experienced chaos in the times and had a difficult political career.However,he was fascinated by academics and wrote works in the fields of classics,history and literature,among which the literary creation has rich implications and outstanding achievements,became an important figure in the literature history of the Eight Banners.At present,the academic research on Zhen Jun is still relatively weak,and Zhen Jun’s family,life,friends and writings have not been comprehensively verified and sorted out.Based on the current research status,this paper combines the extant works of Zhen Jun with relevant literature to conduct textual investigation and research on Zhen Jun and his works from four aspects.Firstly,clarify Zhen Jun’s family and life.All kinds of literature materials are collected to examine and clarify the names,birth and death years and official status of members of Zhen Jun’s family,to investigate and correct the errors of Zhen Jun’s banner,imperial examination process,time of name change,life and career,and to further supplement and sort out the remaining points,so as to more clearly present the background of Zhen Jun’s works and academic growth track.Secondly,investigate the situation of Zhen Jun’s social intercourse association.Zhen Jun’s contacts and associations were mainly concentrated in the Beijing and Jiangnan area.He doesn’t care about social hierarchy,and had contacts with Manchu,Mongolian and Han litterateur.He extensively contacted scholars of all classes and had rich social activities,showing the life style of litterateur in the Eight Banners during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China.Thirdly,the whole situation of Zhen Jun’s writings is investigated.Zhen Jun is rich in his writings.This paper examines and describes many of his extant works from the aspects of version information,historical record,compilation style,theme,content and so on.At the same time,it further combs the historical record of Zhen Jun’s works to be examined,so as to present Zhen Jun’s writings in a more comprehensive way.Finally,it analyzes the value of Zhen Jun’s literary creation and his position in literary history.It is pointed out that Zhen Jun’s literary creation can reflect the ideological characteristics of the litterateur of the Eight Banners of the late Qing Dynasty and the culture adherents of the early Republic of China,present the cultural ecology of the litterateur of the Eight Banners of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.At the same time,this paper makes an objective evaluation of Zhen Jun’s position in the history of Eight Banners literature and the history of modern literature by combining the comments of scholars and literary critics.
