Clinical Observation On The Therapeutic Effect Of Baihe Runjing Decoction Combined With Artificial Tears In The Treatment Of Dry Eyes Due To Deficiency Of Lung Yi

Objective: By investigating the clinical efficacy of Baiherunjing decoction combined with artificial tears on dry eye with syndrome pattern of deficiency of lung-yin,we provide new ideas for the treatment of dry eye with syndrome pattern of deficiency of lung-yin.Methods: Patients with dry eye with syndrome pattern of deficiency of lung-yin from January2022 to October 2022 attending the ophthalmology clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were collected.Forty patients(80 eyes)who met the study criteria were selected,and the patients were divided into two groups,the treatment group and the control group,with 20 cases(40 eyes)in each group,using the random number table method.The treatment group was treated with Baiherunjing decoction combined with artificial tears(polyvinyl alcohol eye drops);the control group was treated with artificial tears(polyvinyl alcohol eye drops).Both groups were treated for 4 weeks,and Schirmer I test(SIT),fluorescein staining(FL),breakup time(BUT),tear meniscus height(TMH),OSDI(ocular surface disease index)score,and TCM clinical symptom score,were observed in both groups before and after treatment,and the data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 26.0.Results:1.There was no statistically significant difference between the general conditions and the observed indexes(SIT,FL score,BUT,TMH,OSDI score and TCM clinical symptom score)of the two groups before treatment(P > 0.05),which were comparable.2.The observed indexes(SIT,FL score,BUT,TMH,OSDI score,and TCM clinical symptom score)of patients in both groups improved after treatment compared with those before treatment,and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Comparing the two groups of patients after treatment,the treatment group was better than the control group,and the differences were all statistically significant(P < 0.05).3.Comparing the overall efficacy of the two groups,the total effective rate of the treatment group was 95% and the total effective rate of the control group was 70%,and the treatment group was superior to the control group,with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1.The treatment regimen of both Baiherunjing decoction combined with artificial tears and artificial tears alone were clinically effective in dry eye with syndrome pattern of deficiency of lung-yin.2.Baiherunjing decoction combined with artificial tears can increase tear secretion,improve fluorescein staining of the cornea,prolong breakup time,increase tear meniscus height,and improve the subjective symptoms of patients.3.The treatment effect of Baiherunjing decoction combined with artificial tears was better than that of using artificial tears alone in patients with dry eye with syndrome pattern of deficiency of lung-yin.
