| The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China regards people’s yearning for a better life as the unswerving goal of the Party and the government.Subjective well-being is used as an indicator to measure the public’s satisfaction with the quality of life, and it also reflects people’s overall feelings on the spiritual life and material level in a certain period. In recent years, due to the acceleration of the aging of the population and the continuous improvement of residents’ requirements for the quality of life, the elderly pay special attention to the medical security system, especially the elderly in rural areas, because the economic and medical conditions are far worse than those in cities and towns,so they pay more attention to the medical security system. At present, there are relatively few studies on the subjective well-being of the rural elderly by medical insurance,so there is room for further research on the influencing factors of medical insurance on the subjective well-being of the rural elderly.Based on China’s national conditions, this paper adopts the method of combining empirical analysis and case interviews, collates and analyzes existing literature at home and abroad, studies and interprets relevant theories, and combines the data of China Comprehensive Social Survey CGSS2017 to conduct relevant research on the subjective well-being of the elderly in rural China.By incorporating socioeconomic status into the analysis framework, this paper empirically analyzes the influence of medical insurance on the subjective well-being of the rural elderly, and probes into the mediating role of socioeconomic status. Finally, the accuracy of the empirical results is proved according to the case interviews, and the problems that have not been found in the empirical analysis are discussed. The research results show that the subjective well-being of the rural elderly is generally high, and whether the rural elderly participate in medical insurance significantly affects their subjective well-being.However,due to differences in gender, age, income and other conditions,as well as other basic conditions, the subjective well-being of individuals will also be different.Social and economic status plays an intermediary role in the relationship between medical insurance and subjective well-being of the rural elderly, that is,medical insurance indirectly affects the well-being of the rural elderly through affecting social and economic status. At the same time, according to the interview results, the convenience of medical insurance reimbursement procedures and the proportion of reimbursement will also have an impact on individual subjective well-being.Based on the above research conclusions, this paper argues that the government should make more efforts to improve the current situation of medical insurance and change the social and economic status of the rural elderly,so as to enhance the subjective well-being of the rural elderly.Specific methods include: Supplementing and improving the medical insurance system, clarifying the key objectives of medical security, rationally allocating medical and health resources in various regions, strengthening the publicity of rural health knowledge, improving the "Internet +" system of medical insurance, and focusing on special groups such as the rural elderly, can promote the development of a harmonious society for the elderly in rural areas. |
