| Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 in early 2020,teaching activities in major institutions have been greatly affected, and institutions have switched to online teaching, but can online teaching achieve the same results as offline teaching? Especially for international students, many of whom cannot return to China and have been taught online since the beginning, what are the negative effects on their learning Chinese? In this paper,we study the online Chinese learning situation of Thai students at Guangxi University to find out the possible problems of online teaching on Chinese learning, the reasons behind and the possible solutions. This paper mainly adopts literature combing method, observation method, questionnaire survey method, focus group interview method and individual interview method to study the online Chinese learning of Thai students. The main contents include combing the existing research literature, observing the online Chinese classroom learning of Thai international students, conducting questionnaires and interview questions from six perspectives: platform software, teacher situation, learning environment, learning attitude,teacher-student interaction, and online classroom. After the study,we found that the software platform, school and teacher support, learning environment, students’ learning attitude,teacher-student interaction, and online classroom all affect the satisfaction of online Chinese learning among Thai students to different degrees, and many factors such as the lack of interesting content and design of some courses or poor experience, and the length of the classroom are too long affect the effectiveness of online classroom learning.Thai students in China are significantly more satisfied with the learning environment, learning attitude,teacher-student interaction and online classroom than Thai students in Thailand, and non-degree students are significantly more satisfied with the software platform and online classroom than master and bachelor students.Chinese traditional culture classes such as calligraphy and tai chi classes, which are highly practical and require a high degree of hands-on participation, are difficult to obtain in online classes. To sum up,online courses have great shortcomings for language courses, and there is still much room for improvement in the current online Chinese language teaching.Based on the above analysis,we put forward corresponding suggestions for improving online Chinese language teaching from different perspectives in order to provide references for improving the effectiveness of online Chinese learning for Thai students. |
