Musical Style And Performance Analysis Of Poulenc's Theme And Variations (FP151

Francis Jean-Marcel Poulenc was a famous French composer at the beginning of the 20 th century,and one of the key members of the "Six",the representative group of the neoclassical school.He composed a wide range of genres,including melodic piano works with the typical characteristics of neoclassical music,moderate and objective expression of emotions,and a balanced and stable structure of works.The composer adds new musical elements to this genre by using typical 20 th century compositional techniques such as panchromatic,irregular rhythmic changes,etc.in the traditional musical genre of variations.This paper takes this work as an entry point and discusses its composition background,musical style and performance points with the author’s performance practice,hoping to provide some reference for the study of Poulenc’s works through the understanding and analysis of this work.
