With the advent of the era of big data, the scale and scope of data leakage are rapidly expanding.Data leakage brings property loss and reputation risk to enterprises and also poses great challenges to the protection of personal privacy. Therefore, preventing data leakage and protecting personal privacy has become one of the top concerns of people. The goal of You CAN Stop Stupid: Stopping Losses from Accidental and Malicious Actions is to help readers identify and mitigate user actions and harmful actions that may cause losses or potential damage. Therefore, the author selected some chapters of this book for translation,to provide a reference for domestic network security professionals and network users, and to help them deal with network security incidents such as data leakage. The book is a technical text with many professional terms. The source text,as an objective and technical text, has a large number of long sentences and sentences in passive voice. Therefore,in translation practice, the author chooses the relevance theory as the guide. The relevance theory holds that translation is a communicative reasoning process,in which the information and communicative intention of the source text should be understood and the cognitive context of the target reader should be inferred,so as to select appropriate translation strategies and methods to seek the optimal relevance between the target reader and the source text. After an analysis of the characteristics of the text, the most appropriate translation techniques are selected and the translated text is adjusted to conform to the expression habits of the target language. To present the translation strategies and techniques, the author discusses cases respectively at lexical level, syntactic level and textual level based on the relevance theory. At the lexical level, the author translates the terms by using free translation and the literal translation with annotation, and the techniques of conversion of part-of-speech and amplification are also employed. At the syntactic level, the passive voice of some sentences is converted into an active one in Chinese through voice conversion, and the long and difficult sentences are mainly translated through the methods of sequence adjustment, division and the negation-affirmation reversion. At the textual level, the author first discusses the determination of contextual word meaning, and then uses explicitation and semantic field construction to realize the textual coherence. This report is mainly divided into five parts: The first part includes the background, purpose and significance, and the introduction to the original text and its authors. The second part mainly describes the translation process, covering the successive work of pre-translation,translation and post-translation.The third part reviews the translation theory, and includes its development and its application in translation practice. The fourth part provides detailed case analysis,in which the author analyzes the translation methods from the perspectives of vocabulary, syntax and discourse. In the end,the author’s reflections on the translation practice, and the limitations of this practice constitute the fifth part.
