With the continuous reform of China?s basic education curriculum,school-based curriculum development has received widespread attention.Under the influence of the cultural global context and the guidance of the new curriculum concept,the development of high school English school-based curriculum in China has emerged.And in order to better put the cultivation of core literacy into practice,its development is imperative.From a theoretical point of view,the Ordinary Senior High School English Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition 2020 Revision)points that,on the basis of the General Senior High School Curriculum Program and the compulsory education,a diversified English curriculum structure with a combination of the required courses,the required elective courses,and the elective courses is constructed.Among them,the elective courses are the courses for students to take on their own,and the school-based courses developed by schools are an important part of them.Schools should take their own conditions into consideration and fully take advantage of accessible resources to develop the school-based curriculum that can satisfy students?developmental needs and reflect the schools? characteristics.From a practical point of view,many schools in C hina have developed English school-based curriculum of various types and with different characteristics.In the process of developing the English school-based curriculum,these schools have accumulated a number of practical wisdom and valuable experience,which has provided good educational resources for other schools.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the resources of these schools for school-based curriculum development to figure out the practical wisdom hidden among them.This study takes the high school English school-based curriculum of Xi?an Foreign Languages School as the research object,adopts the interview and classroom observation method to explore the following three questions in terms of the design and classroom implementation of the curriculum development and the corresponding wisdom of teaching practice they produces:(1)How did the English teachers of Xi?an Foreign Languages School design the high school English school-based curriculum?(2)How did the English teachers of Xi?an Foreign Languages School implement the high school English school-based curriculum in the classroom?(3)What is the wisdom of teaching practice of the high school English school-based curriculum in Xi?an Foreign Languages School?The study has the following findings:(1)When it comes to the curriculum designing,the teachers have taken full account of internal and external factors to carry out contextual analysis,set curriculum objectives for building a distinctive curriculum system and cultivating talents,developed English-based curriculum with various types and corresponding handouts to support effective teaching and learning,created a combination of integrated and activity-based English school-based curricula,respected students? autonomy in choosing courses and adopted a flexible teaching organization form;(2)When it comes to the curriculum classroom implementation,the teachers adopted various teaching strategies and approaches,created different activities to promote the effective interaction between teachers and students,given full play to the subjectivity of students in the interaction,attached great importance to the students? classroom learning process and encouraged multiple subjects to conduct assessment;(3)The practical wisdom has also made a huge contribution to the development of the curriculum itself,the teachers,the students and the school involved in it in the long term.
