Communicative Translation Theory In Informative Text

Based on the translator’s internship in China Daily,this report intends to analyze the translation practice of economic news under the influence of COVID-19 with the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory.The COVID-19 pandemic has led to major changes in the global political economy,with the greatest drag on the economies of all countries.China is under the background of the world,and the Chinese economy is naturally associated with the global economic environment.The Chinese people pay much attention on the economic situation at home and abroad.Under these circumstances,the close analysis and research on the translation practice of economic news under the influence of COVID-19 will help the public to fully understand the world economic situation,predict economic trends,and take corresponding measures to deal with it.Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory has extensive guiding significance for economic news translation,and provides a path for the translator with translation ideas and methods that should be followed in translation practice.According to this theory,the translator should follow the two principles of "target language-oriented" and "close to the target reader’s language expression habits and culture" in the translation process,flexibly handle the original text information,fit the reader’s language habits,and accurately convey the original text information.This translation report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduced the translation practice task.The second chapter briefly described the translation process.Chapter Three introduced Newmark’s text classification and Communicative Translation Theory,and analyzed the feasibility of this theory guiding the translation practice of this text.The fourth chapter is the cases study under the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory.The analysis was carried out from the three levels of vocabulary,syntax and discourse,and at least two translation methods were used in each level to show the translation effect produced by different translation strategies.The fifth chapter is the reflection and conclusion of this translation practice.The translator benefits a lot from the translation project.On one hand,she accumulates relevant economic news translation experiences,and on the other hand,she hopes to provide some practical accumulation practice for the study of economic news translation.
