Since the release of the 2017 Global Carbon Budget Report,China has faced pressure from international public opinion because of its large share in the global total carbon dioxide emission from fossil fuels and industry.Although in recent years,China has made great efforts to expand the decarbonization of the whole economy and achieved a series of achievements, the evaluation of China by the outside world is still biased.Under current international circumstances,a research group from Southwest Petroleum University conducted a research on low carbon economy development planning,in order to to increase China’s voice in the international climate change negotiations.Entrusted by the research group, the author of the report translated some literatures on carbon emissions from English to Chinese. The source texts are two articles from Science Direct Database, which deal with the relationship between economy and carbon emission. The translation is to exactly represent the original meaning to the target readers, and help them understand the content of the source text. The source texts belong to the type of informative text. The author of the report translated the two articles from English to Chinese under the guidance of semantic translation and communicative translation. For semantic translation, the translation methods of literal translation, transliteration and zero translation are taken. For communicative translation, the translation methods of conversion, reconstruction, and division are taken. The translation is favorably reviewed by the client. It is proved that the translation provides useful information to the research members, and can provide reference to their research on carbon emission. The translation report summarizes translation methods used in the translation practice, which could be taken as reference for Chinese translation of similar English literatures in the future.
