Integrated teaching is a common form of teaching in Chinese classes in Thailand.It focuses on comprehensive training in the four skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing,as well as on improving students’ overall language and conversation skills.Complete beginners’ teaching is the initial stage of Chinese language teaching and should focus on stimulating students’ interest in learning Chinese and their motivation to learn.Constructivist theory advocates a learner-centred teaching philosophy that departs from the traditional teacher-centred teaching model and allows students to fully exercise their subjectivity and actively construct meaning.As a result,constructivist theory can also be used in the teaching of International Chinese.By applying constructivist theory,students’ subjective states can be fully highlighted and their learning ability can be enhanced.Based on the constructivism theory and the teaching model of Sing Buri School in Thailand,this article proposes an integrated design using lesson 19 May I Try It On from the Chinese language course,volume 1 as an example,and expects to offer guidance and resources for comprehensive Chinese language education in Thailand.This research is mainly divided into four chapters:Chapter 1 is an explanation.It mainly presents the objective and significance of the selected subject,the actual status of the research in China and overseas,the content of the research and the research topics.Chapter 2 introduces the application of constructivist theory to the teaching design of Chinese comprehensive courses.First,the content of constructivist theory is introduced in detail,then the principles of constructivist teaching philosophy in Chinese comprehensive course teaching are analyzed,and finally the methods of constructivist theory in teaching are developed.Chapter 3 is a study of the specific instructional design of May I Try It On,based on constructivist theory.This chapter is in two parts: course design and special design.In the course preparation section,the educational environment,pedagogical objectives,teaching materials and pedagogical content are analysed,while in the section on specific design,specific teaching ideas and processes are presented.There are four lessons in total,each of which provides a detailed overview of the pedagogical content and is well prepared for the implementation of the following lessons.Chapter 4 is devoted to the evaluation and discussion of the effectiveness of this lesson model in practice.Based on the results of the lessons,test results and student interviews,the application of the theory in teaching Chinese in Thailand is examined,the effectiveness of the lesson design based on the constructivist theory and its shortcomings are evaluated,and suggestions for improvement are made in response to the problems encountered in the lessons,in the hope that they will provide guidance for teaching Chinese in Thailand.
