| The outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic three years ago brought Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)back into the public consciousness.TCM made remarkable strides in reducing the severity of illnesses and protecting against reinfection with Covid-19 during the early stages of the epidemic.Over these past three years,TCM has also had a significant role to play in warding off viral infections and bolstering human immunity.This prompted the author to take an interest in TCM,leading him to select the first episode of the TV program Traditional Chinese Medicine Fighting Against Epidemic for Chinese-English simulated consecutive interpreting.This report is composed of five chapters.Chapter One primarily outlines the task background,main contents and linguistic features of the source text,as well as the task design.Chapter Two delves into the entire process of this simulated interpreting in detail,including pre-interpreting preparation such as terminology and background information,during-interpreting challenges,and post-interpreting such as peer feedback and self-evaluation.Chapter Three introduces the guiding theory of this interpreting: the main concepts of Interpretive Theory and Triangular Model of Interpretive Theory.Chapter Four elucidates the interpreting methods and techniques adopted by the author under the guidance of Interpretive Theory,including Error Correction and Explanation,Part-of-Speech Conversion and Free Interpreting,Amplification and Omission,through an analysis of representative cases.Chapter Five serves as a conclusion to this report.The author also offers some suggestions for enhancing his interpreting capacity while providing references for similar interpreting practices by other student interpreters. |
