| Cancer is a major public health problem that poses a significant risk to the overall quality of life of the general population.In recent years,the incidence of breast cancer in China has steadily increased.Breast cancer is the most common form of malignant tumor that affects women around the world.Therefore,translating the up-to-date English medical texts on breast cancer into Chinese has a certain amount of practical value and assists the target readers in gaining additional knowledge about the topic.This thesis is a report on the Chinese translation of sixteen English articles on breast cancer.These source texts are selected from the website of the Medscape(http://www.medscape.com)from November 2021 to May 2022.Guided by the function plus loyalty theory of Nord,this report analyzes the main problems encountered in the translation process and corresponding solutions.The main problems are the inaccuracy of term extraction in the preparation,the lack of searching skills,and the mistranslation of words and phrases due to the lack of context awareness.The corresponding solutions are the combination of computer-aided tools with manual term checking to extract terms,the use of multiple searching tools and improving searching methods and the rendering of the meanings of the words and phrases according to the linguistic context.By doing this translation,the translator realizes that she should pay more attention to the use of the computer-aided tools in her future translation practice,improve her information search ability and discrimination ability,strengthen the context awareness and improve the relevant translation abilities in an effective way.It is hoped that this report will be useful for other relevant translation practice. |
