| In the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the preposition as a function word is a major difficulty."Wei" preposition has a high usage rate in our daily life.It is one of the prepositions that foreign students come into contact with earlier and are easy to make mistakes when learning Chinese. When many native English speaking students use the Chinese preposition "wei",due to the influence of English, there will be some errors.Chinese Language Teachers for Foreigner need to master the differences between Chinese and English and use correct teaching strategies.Based on the comparison between English and Chinese, this paper makes a comparative study of Chinese "wei" prepositions and their corresponding English expressions in syntax, semantics and pragmatics, summarizes and analyzes the similarities and differences between the two languages in expressing the meaning of Chinese "wei" prepositions, and collects the errors caused by the use of "wei" prepositions by foreign students whose mother tongue or first language is English through HSK corpus and global interlanguage corpus. Also,a questionnaire survey was conducted on international students with English backgrounds.Based on error analysis and survey results, and considering the differences between Chinese and English, this paper concludes that the reasons for the errors in using "wei" prepositions by international students with English backgrounds were attributed to the influence of negative transfer of their mother tongue, negative transfer of target language knowledge, and the complexity of the target language itself. At the same time, this paper selected a set of influential Chinese textbooks for foreigners,"Boya Chinese",to analyze the grammar point distribution, explanation methods, and practice methods of "wei" prepositions, and found their shortcomings. In the end, this paper focuses on the contrastive perspective of English and Chinese, and proposes some targeted teaching strategies in textbook layout and teacher teaching. |
