| As a practical,communicative,and comprehensive English course,the audiovisual and speaking course has become more and more important in cultivating complex talents in today’s society,where technology is developing rapidly and English talents are in high demand.Compared with the basic English teaching subjects,which focus too much on basic knowledge,especially grammatical knowledge,the advantages of the audiovisual and speaking course in the cultivation of language skills are more prominent and obvious.English teachers of the audiovisual and speaking course should continue to try to improve their teaching methods and try to introduce the sight interpretation teaching model into the English audiovisual and speaking course,so as to cultivate high-quality English professionals and change the status quo of "dumb English" with the times.This study adopts a design-based research method.Firstly,we use the literature analysis method to sort out and summarize the concepts and researches related to sight interpretation and English teaching model at home and abroad,and then review the current situation of the researches and define the key concepts of this study.Secondly,from the perspective of improving the audiovisual and speaking(interpretation)ability of higher vocational students,a teaching model of the sight interpretation in the higher vocational English audiovisual and speaking course is constructed based on the experiential learning cycle theory,the triangular model of interpretation theory and the learning progression theory.Then,the students from Class 2021 A and Class 2021 B of English major in City College of Huizhou are taken as the subjects of the study,and three rounds of practical research are conducted based on the sight interpretation teaching model,and the sight interpretation teaching model is adjusted and optimized through continuous observation and reflection.The third round of practice study is the upgrading stage,which aims to let students learn to tap into the integrated application.Then,interviews,questionnaires,test papers,and work evaluations are used to test the learning outcomes,and data are collected and analyzed to draw conclusions.The results of the study show that after the introduction of the sight interpretation teaching model into the higher vocational English audiovisual and speaking course,the overall English performances of the students in the experimental class are improved,and the average performance is higher than that of the compared class and the ability of visualizing,listening,speaking and interpretation are all improved significantly.Finally,the study is summarized and the future prospects of implementing the sight interpretation teaching model in higher vocational English audiovisual and speaking course are proposed,including updating the teaching concepts of higher-level English teachers;improving the teaching quality of higher-level English teachers;and promoting the construction and application of the sight interpretation teaching model to enrich the teaching practice. |
