This is a translation report. The source text of this report is excerpted from the chapter two and chapter three of the Fragile Futures: The Uncertain Economics of Disasters,Pandemics, and Climate Change,a book written by Tanzi Vito.In the source text, the author reviews the distinction between risk and uncertain events, and lists the different categories of disasters and he also warns that once those uncertain events happen in the future, they will have a huge impact on human life and the economy, while governments often ignore it.The report is related to an economics book.It not only provides information to economists so as to stimulate their thinking on issues discussed, but also promotes individuals or governments to prioritize those uncertain events and make full preparation for it.As an informative text related to economy and business, the source text is highly logical and full of sentences with parenthesis. Those sentences pose great challenges to target readers. The translator chose the Skopos theory as her guidance in the whole translation process. When the translator encountered sentences with parentheses, the translator has used linear translation, embedding, recasting and division to fully present the meaning of the original text and guarantee the readability.Additionally, this translation project can bring convenience to readers who are interested in economics and also provide some reference value to translation related to this type.
