| With the development of junior high school EFL teaching,especially with the use of information technology in it,increasingly more teachers are adopting a kind of blended model of English listening and speaking teaching.However,due to the lack of a systemic approach to the implementation of the blended model of teaching EFL listening and speaking,the content and functions of the blended model have not yet improved.There have been numerous studies on the blended model of EFL teaching,with some achievements regarding the method and content of teaching.However,studies so far conducted are not adequate in terms of their methodologies and outcomes,mainly due to the lack of systemic approaches.Targeted to the above-stated inadequacies in the practice and study of applying the blended model of EFL speaking and listening teaching,the present study intends to explore the blended model of EFL listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school through a systemic action research approach.This study is conducted in the light of P.Chekland’ soft systems theory and methods,on the basis of blended teaching theory,through the methods including questionnaire survey and testing,and via procedures based on soft systems methods and the procedures of action research.Through two rounds of the implementation and improvement of the blended model of English listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school,the present study strives to answer the following three questions:(1)What should the blended model of EFL listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school be like?(2)How can the blended model of English listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school enhance the students’ motivation in EFL learning?(3)How can the blended model of EFL listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school enhance the students’ achievement in EFL learning?Results generated from the study demonstrate the following:(1)The blended model of English listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school should be a model that optimizes the interrelationship between online and classroom teaching,between teachers and students,between students and students,and between listening and speaking.(2)The blended model of English listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school can enhance the students’ motivation in EFL learning.(3)The blended model of English listening and speaking teaching in the junior high school can enhance the students’ achievement in EFL learning.This study is significant both practically and theoretically.Practically,the research results of this study will help improve the practice of the blended teaching of English listening and speaking in junior high schools so as to enhance the students’ EFL learning motivation and achievement.Theoretically,the systemic action research approach adopted in this study is meaningful to relevant studies and may compensate for the inadequate methods in relevant studies. |
