A Study On The Expression Forms Of The Album Cover Design In Korean Popular Music

Korean popular music,often described as a mirror of the times,has accurately captured the life and social landscape of the Korean public and triggered a powerful ripple effect in leading the popular trends throughout the rapidly changing modern history.A quick overview of the development of Korean popular music in different periods reveals that in the 20 th century different ideas and contradictions collided fiercely as it experienced the influx of foreign cultures from Japan and the United States,which provided the context for the awakening and shaping of self-awareness in the albums;now,in the 21 st century,its k-pop music has gone global as it achieves phenomenal development and becomes an international mainstream.Meanwhile,the cover design of Korean popular music has also been transformed.Not only as a visual presentation of musical aesthetics and an expression form of design aesthetics,it has also developed into a playground for designers to show their creativity.At the same time,as a carrier of cultural landscape,it has also visually expressed various thoughts,humanistic concerns,self-awareness,media changes,artistic concepts,design trends,and aesthetic trends of different times on album covers,which in turn have promoted the evolution and style changes of album cover design and further expanded its boundaries,making it a broad picture where music gets actively integrated with artistic concepts and commercial demands.Upon this basis,this paper will try to gain a deeper insight into Korean popular music and its album covers,clarify its historical background and changes in different stages,and analyze the common artistic techniques and expression forms in Korean popular music album cover design through a comparative analysis of a large number of excellent and representative examples of album covers from different eras,in the hope that it will serve as an inspiration and reference for album cover design in China.
