The scientific investigation and research on seabed is a multi-disciplinary and integrative marine activity. During the long-term marine survey and research, prodigious amounts of complex seabed data on marine geology and geophysics (MG&G) featured as multi-source, multi-disciplinary, heterogeneous in structure and temporal are accumulated. Complicated characteristics and application demands propose a new challenge for dynamic and effective integration, management, share, utilization and display of these seabed data. With the development of"Digital Earth"and"Digital Marine", the theory and technology of"Digital Seabed"are becoming more and more advanced and obtaining a wide use. And it has become a trend to utilize the spatial information technology in the management and share of the multi-disciplinary and integrative seabed data. By analyzing the problems existed in the development of"Digital Seabed", this paper does research on the key technology of modelization and visualization of multi-disciplinary seabed data and make application of the technology in practice.With detailed analysis of the workflow and characteristics of marine geo-scientific investigation and research, this paper proposes conceptual charts, which can describe the complex information flow, contents and characteristics of MG&G data in a simple and direct way. And then a data model of multi-disciplinary and integrative seabed data is designed using object-oriented modeling method and UML modeling language. The model includes three parts: basic feature data model, marine survey data model and marine geo-scientific data model. The data model can clearly demonstrate the classification, relationship and structure of the complex MG&G data objects and provide standard template and guidance for the management and application of the multi-dimensional seabed data.Based on the data model, Bohai Sea engineering geology database and relative application system are designed and developed.
