During the Middle and Late Period of Ming Dynasty, Chinese society had experienced a dramatic change, because of soaring of economy and population along with the implement of a strand of new policies. Meanwhile, the living condition and attitudes of craftsmen and scholars had altered accordingly. The scholars faced the embarrassment in politics and finance, which dropped remarkably. In that case, the scholars utilised their dominant views towards culture in which they led the appreciation fashion in furniture design, and devoted themselves into the design activities. Aimed to highlight their social status and make the distinction between the other people and themselves. Moreover, the authority lessened their political control in these craftsmen during that time, so that their enthusiasm sparkling in their creative work. They contributed their unique talents in design, and since then, they cooperated even further, and in such activities, they both enhanced their knowledge in furniture design. And their collaboration created a new ‘ming-style’, after that, a special standard and process schedule had been generated. It shifted people’s understanding and methods in using this furniture significantly.This article plan to discuss this topic, and outline the design theories and viewpoint. In the base of the theories, the methodology of comparison will be cited, meanwhile, some perspectives of the modern anthropology and sociology will be illustrated. The objective is to reflect the phenomenon from various angles and features to approach the condition of social development in terms of the inevitably historical factors.
