Finishing is the final procedure to increase surface quality of almost all of mechanical parts, it will influence comprehensive performance, cost and time, which relate to competition ability of mechanical parts in international marketplace. Now, limited by the development of finishing techniques, finishing of the surface such as large mirror steel sheet and rough bosom of large reactors is difficult to do, and it is becoming the obstacles to production developing. Electrochemical mechanical finishing (ECMF) is a new finishing technology, which had compounded electrochemical finishing and mechanical finishing. ECMF has not only well processing property but also excellent quality of surface finished. In the basis of summarizing the mechanism of ECMF, microtopography of surface finished by ECMF and its evaluated system, the quality characteristics and processing characteristics of ECMF is discussed, and then the technique of ECMF for finishing a large sheet and rough surface is studied systematically in this paper.In the basis of discussing principle of electrochemical finishing (ECF) and mechanism of ECMF, the rules were explored that current intensity and electrolyte had influenced characters of anode metal electrolyzed, property and fluidity of passive layer. As a result, a rough surface would be finished in a procedure at same time by ECMF with optimizing preferences to extend original roughness range of finished surfaces. By studying on the pertinent selection of compounded modes of ECMF for finishing rotator, deep hole, plane surface, curved surface and other typical surface else, efficiency and automatization of ECMF had been increased with the using of robot and NC etc.In the basis of investigation on microtopography, machining texture, physical mechanical characteristics and the evaluated systems of themselves, the characteristics of surfaces finished by grinding, CF, ECF and ECMF were discussed in this paper. As a result, the mechanism was explored which is of improving the comprehensive performances such as decreasing friction factor, reducing noise, prolonging life, anti-erosion, anti-conglutination and other else. It is proved that ECMF is an effective method to improve the quality of the mechanical parts in our country.Mirror stainless steel sheet is the typical representative of large thin mechanical parts. Facing to the characteristics such as large area, little thickness, bad rigidity and the high surface quality demand of a mirror stainless steel sheet, this paper made a study on selection of flexible abrasive carrier, optimization of tools structure, matching relation of ECMF and other key techniques else. As a result, a finishing technology with suspended abrasive electrolyte and classified, more range, more number flexible tool system was explored to finish large thin mirror steel sheet with high efficiency.In this paper, in order to using the surface with well anti-conglutination ability on equipments of chemical industry, the mechanism compounded high efficiency of pulse electrochemical finishing (PECF) and advantages of ECMF to be applied in finishing a polyester reactor with large area and rough original surface was discussed to dedcrease high cost and long period of uptodate finishing techniques. As a result, the problems such as low efficiency and tools wear down seriously in the process to finish a rough surface had been got over, and large rough surface of the polyester reactor could be finished in a same working procedure. A technology of finishing directly large rough surface was explored as a way to solve the problem of finishing large parts.At last, aiming at status of single making of large industrial equipments, this paper advised parts of large industrial equipments had been shaped after finishing, and then welding line was finished finally.
