With the rapid progress of technology and requirement of production, people have much more requirement of the surface quality and precise of parts. Surface quality of parts has great effect on the operational performance such as wearing quality, figure strength, corrosion resistance, contact stiffness, the life and the reliability of products. High surface quality and top precision can improve the operational performance of products, enhance their stability and reliability, prolong their life, decrease their noise in operation and finally promote their credit and competition on the market. Finishing is one of the ways to improve the surface quality. Many new technologies of finishing have appeared and developed in recent years including the technology of Pulse Electrochemical and its Compound Finishing (PECCF), which has demonstrated the great potential of development as a new finishing technology.Pulse Electrochemical and its Compound Finishing (PECCF) technology removes the metal of the surface by electrochemical dissolution, so there are less cutting force and cutting heat and there are no cutting mark, plastic deformation layer on the surface of the parts compared with the surface of the parts by machining. As one of the ways of finishing, it has many merits: On one hand, it can greatly reduce the values of surface roughness and improve the surface quality of parts. On the other hand, it can solve some difficult problems and make up some shortages in the traditional finishing. So PECCF is good for studying and will play an important role in surface finishing.There are large numbers of rotary parts in mechanical engineering, and they are in large amount and wide and far. Their surface quality is close to product's performance and the competition in the international market. So it is very important to finish these parts.The Pulse Electrochemical and its Compound Finishing (PECCF) technology is studied and researched in this paper based on a great deal of basic experiments, and it is successfully applied to the wall of slender pipe and the surface of cam. Firstly, the mechanism of PECCF and its characteristics of electrochemistry, flowing field, anode dissolution and its merits are analyzed and researched deeply grounded on the experiments of cylinder. Secondly, according to present situation of electric power and electron, a new type intelligent control high frequency and high power pulse power supply based on IGBT are designed and produced. Its frequency and duty cycle can be tuned up independently and it also has digital control function. With thispower supply, the Pulse Electrochemical and its Compound Finishing technology can be further studied and researched. Finally, the application of PECCF is detailedly analyzed and explained based on the example of the finishing of the wall of the slender pipe and the surface of the cam. This paper's primary work is the application of PECCF on the wall of slender pipe and the surface of cam and the design and produce of pulse power supply, which has provided a good precondition to extend the application of PECCF to 3D complex surface. Its aim is to make the study of this technology deeper and the application area broader.
