Innovative design refers to the design adopting new techniques, new principles, new mechanisms and unusual methods. That makes the products designed are not existed before or unknown before. Only innovative design can make the products with powerful market competence. In recent years, combined machining centers are more concerned and regarded as a new type CNC machine tools. Therefore, in this dissertation, new principles, new mechanisms and virtual prototype simulation software of a new type combined machining center with features of combinations of machining functions, rough and precise machining mechanisms, parallel principle and serial principle are studied in theory and in experiments systematically and thoroughly.The main research in this dissertation is as below:1. A full new type combined machining center with eleven axes and simultaneously six axes is designed on the basis of studying the existing turn-milling machine tools and the parallel robots. Main features of the combined machining center are the combinations of turning, milling and grinding functions, rough and precise machining mechanisms,. serial and parallel principles.2. A mechanism mode of over guided rough and precise machining mechanism being able to combine and use independently is introduced. The precise mechanism has three to five motion axes. The rough and precise machining mechanism can work independently during machining, which enhances the precision endurance of the precise machining.The precise machining mechanism can also be moved by the rough machining mechanism, which enlarges the machining range of the precise mechanism. The over guided principle enhances the anti-disturbing capability of the rough mechanism.3. A serial-parallel combination mode of a 3-PRS three-axis parallel motions and three-axis serial motions including the turning C axis is introduced through putting theparallel theory into the innovative design of the turn-mill-grinding combined machining center. The inverse statics and dynamics of the 3-PRS parallel mechanism are derived and simulations are given. Singularities of the 3-PRS parallel mechanism are solved and structure strategies to avoid singularities are introduced. The reachable workspace of the 3-PRS parallel robot is got by a searching method. And the three dimension solid of the workspace is drawn by introducing a preudo-quadrant method and using a 3D software. Then a sectioning method is introduced to get the gesture distribution in the reachable workspace.4. A new 3-PRS parallel principle spindle head is studied and developed with vertical and horizontal machining capabilities by introducing a kind of space tilt angle configuration method, which conquers the disadvantage of the small revolve range of parallel...
