With the rapid development of science and technology, CNC machine tools are developing to be highly precise, efficient and automatic. Turn-milling machining center came along with it. Turn-milling machining center is developing rapidly these years. Most of the products are representative of the modern high-end machine tools. It can be achieved to complete all processes in a single setup of complex workpieces. Production efficiency and machining precision can improved greatly. But the development of turn-milling machining center need to be verified repeatedly and this result in longer development cycle. With the development of computer technology, virtual reality technology appeared. As a new high-tech technology, virtual reality is widely used in many fields such as aviation, aerospace. VR has played a huge role in reducing losses, shortening the development cycle and improving the product quality. One important application of VR technology is in the simulation of some manufacturing phenomena. The most typical is the simulation of CNC machining process.This paper is divided into two parts to accomplish the research of turn-milling machining center in computer simulation of virtual manufacturing. One is to use virtual reality commercial software to realize simulation. The other one is to use grassroots graphics library-OpenGL to realize the visual processing simulation of the turn-milling machining center. Specific content as follows:(1)Model can be displayed dynamically, assembled virtually and detected about interference through modeling in the virtual reality scene.(2)Based on the theory of OpenGL’s coordinate transformation and3d modeling, establishing the geometric model of turn-milling machining center in MFC. Having carried out geometric simulation analysis and accomplished to control the model by adding control panel.(3)Based on the theory of discrete modeling and set operation, establishing workpiece’s discrete model. The real-time simulation of material removal process is exhibited through the boolean operation.(4)This paper also established workpiece surface roughness and milling force model in turn-milling process and realized the simulation of surface roughness and milling force. Optimizing processing parameters through analysis and comparison so as to accomplish research and development of turn-milling machining center.
