On the basis of design a kind of electrically conductive master batch (ECMB) with a lower percolation threshold concentration and bring forward a new kind of new coating method (dissolving-coating method), poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and polycaprolactam (PA6) electrically conductive fibers were prepared by melt-spun and dissolving-coating method, respectively. Anti-static fabrics containing the electrically conductive fibers were also prepared. The technical of melt-spun and dissolving-coating method, the treatment of conductive particles (carbon black and Antimony-doped Tin Oxide), structure and properties of electrically conductive fibers and the anti-static property of the fabric were studied. For the electrically conductive fibers prepared by melt-spun method, conductive filler content should be as low as possible and still allow the ECMB to fulfill its electrical requirements, otherwise the ECMB processing becomes difficult and the mechanical properties of the fiber produced by ECMB are poor. To design a kind of ECMB with lower percolation threshold concentration, the effects of CB content, CB treatment with titanate coupling agent, dispersant content and the composition of polymer blend on the properties of ECMB had been discussed. The results showed that CB treatment with 2wt% titanate coupling agent and PET/PE polymer blend with the weight ratio of 60/40 could be used to design the ECMB with a low percolation threshold concentration. The electrically fibers were melt-spun by extrusion of ECMB using traditional spinning pack. The results showed that the melt-spun fibers prepared by the ECMB with the characters of lower percolation threshold concentration overcoming the problem caused by higher CB content. In addition, a new coating method (dissolving-coating method) that is on the basis of dissolution mechanism was brought forward. The technical condition of PET fiber and PA6 fiber were studied firstly, then the coated PET and PA6 electrically conductive fibers were prepared by dissolving-coating method. The electrical property, mechanical property and launderability of the coated fibers were discussed and the results showed that the coated fibers prepared by the dissolving-coating method has the characters of lower volume resistivity and permanent conductivity. Meanwhile, the desirable characteristics of the fiber polymer substrate are retained while significant conductivity is achieved.Anti-static fabrics containing coated electrically conductive fibers were prepared. The effect of electrically conductive fiber content and interval, fabric content on the anti-static properties were discussed and the mathematic model were established.
