CNC technology is always following the direction of computer technologies. Open Control, networking Control and intelligent control are forwarding CNC system into a great revolution in architecture aspect. Open structure CNC system, as the first step of this revolution, has basically established application methodology & specifications,and also the designing model and supporting environment of open control have also formed. But because of the clear trend of computer technology's evolution into networking direction, and also the objective requirements of CNC machining & manufacturing environment, distributed CNC is gradually paid more and more attentions and has the great prospect of becoming the next generation open CNC. Just in the background this paper has done some research work on the architecture and implementation of distributed CNC. This paper has 5 chapters in the sequence of background analysis, principles expatiation, modeling, designing & implementation. Chapter 1 summarizes the latest CNC technology and analyzes current research achievements, and then put forwards the theme of distributed CNC system. Chapter 2 analyzes the problem of complex control and lists the disadvantages of integrated control solution, and then puts forward the principle of multi-dimension and floating hierarchical architecture and the responding implementation methods. Chapter 3 analyzes the feasibilities & advantages of distributed CNC system based on field-bus architecture, and then designs the specific structure model and working principles of device node in the distributed system. And chapter 4, aiming at the implementation of these schemes & models, designs the 4-aixs distributed CNC system based on PROFIBUS-DP Protocols. Those key technology details of station design, data definition and real time calculation. And in the last chapter, the flexibility of distributed CNC machining system has been analyzed with the solution of reconfigurable modular components supported by a simple mathematic model. This chapter also designs two schemes of hierarchical configuration and templates configuration, and also presents the responding implementation applications. Based on the research work described above, some conclusions have been presented as follows: distributed CNC in open environment represents the evolution of future CNC technology; intelligent module is the basis of establishment of distributed CNC; hierarchical task scheduling & negotiable cooperation are the core algorithms of distributed control; field-bus based architecture is the primary infrastructure of distributed CNC system and the reconfigurable capability of modular components decides the flexibilities. Distributed CNC system is high-level evolution type of Open structure CNC. It is supported by networking and intelligent technologies and has broad prospects of research & application.
