CNC technology based on PC has gone through over ten years, developing anew pattern of the open CNC, therefore, has fallen into three principal systemscentered on USA, Japan and Europe all over the world. With the rapid developmentof computer technology, the open CNC technology, network and intelligent controltechnology have pushed the NC system to go through a major system structure reform,and the structure has developed into technology criterion, such as OSACA, OMACand OSEC, and the application system in open CNC technology. In addition, it hascome into the competition with international standard.The reform of NC code, however, has come into the stage more attractively.Running through over 50 years, G code has severely affected the process of theintegration of CAD/CAM/CNC and the embodying of the advantage of the openCNC, the new NC code, based on neutral data of STEP form will soon become thesubstitute of G code, completely getting away with concurrent among numericalcontrol and the "battle-neck" problem of the data exchange between CAM and CNC,therefore make the net source sharing and intelligent manufacture come true.Under the specific background, the paper has developed the research on theapplication of the open CNC structure, instructing redeveloping platform and theSTEP-NC intelligent manufacture. By the analysis of the NC system structure both athome and overseas, TDNC-M4 system layer structure features and key technologyhave been presented in this paper. It has finished the development of TDNC-M4 openCNC, setup the redevelopment platform frame, designed the unification product datamodel, which tested the application of STEP-NC by using the example of boring.Thus, the following conclusion can be reached: Numerical control is expected todevelop NC system with the sole product right by using the finished open NC systemstructure;Setting up the unification product data model by utilizing redevelopingtechnology and source sharing is the effective way to apply step NC data;To applySTEP-NC data into the traditional NC system is the best method to developSTEP-NC controller, and is the powerful means to test the intelligent process as well.The creative researches in the paper are as follows:1. To apply mult-dimensional layer levels software technology into the softwaredesign of the open NC system, and come into mult-programm data process.2. To set up instructing redevelopment platform by using software componenttechnology, and come to the stage of graphic program.3. To design the unification product data model which can pick-up informationof AP238 data.4. To finshed the primary design and application of STEP-NC controller.In this paper, combining the redevelopment platform in open CNC System andassembling CAM core to develop STEP-NC controller is the successful way ofintegration CAD/CAM/CNC, and is the direct method of realizing networking andintelligent technology. It has broad prospect of research and application.
