All over the world, the beam-pumping unit is the most extensive machine which applied in the oil field. The competition of products becomes more and more severity in today's global market. Our country has broad territory and complicated geography, so the needs of pumping unit are different between some areas. How to develop new pumping unit which can satisfy the different customer's requests and promote the competition ability is become more and more important to the pumping unit corporation.Following the development of design method, the process of design has become "manage design" form "design parameter". The concept design is core of design process of pumping unit. The work during this stage reflects the art and creativity of design.Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a kind of quality system which expands the market quota by satisfying the customer's demands. This system research and analyses customer's desires by systematical method, and then translate the desires of customers into product design or engineering characteristics, and subsequently into parts characteristics, process plans and production requirements, which make the products satisfy customer's requests. TRIZ is the "Theory of Inventive Problem Solving", TRIZ consider that the theory of inventive is real and if we can use it, it will promote invention and shorten the time we spend on invention. Furthermore, it makes invention foreseeable.The concept design method of pumping unit based on the QFD and TRIZ is an effective method which can satisfy the different customer's requests, shorten design periods and promote quality of products. During the concept design of pumping unit, this method make QFD and TRIZ together: It can make us know "What should we do" by QFD and make us know "How we do" by TRIZ.This paper introduce the theory of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Theory of Inventive Problem Solving(TRIZ), analyze the advantage and disadvantage of them, advance the concept design method of pumping unit based on the QFD and TRIZ. Then use this method analyzes pumping unit. And this paper discusses the evaluation method based on the concept design of pumping unit based on QFD and TRIZ, and put forward evaluation methods both from technique and customer's requests. And set up the data-base and programmed software. The software can help stylist design the pumping unit well.Internationally, the concept design method with QFD and TRIZ can help us develop novel product and shorten the time we spend on design, and then improve competitionability. The concept design method based on the QFD and TRIZ is an effective theory to improve corporation's ability of design, manufacture even management.
