Rattan furniture is green-environmental, fresh-classic and has a wide market prospect. China has a longstanding history in its producing and using. But furniture producing and designing has not special theories to guide. Rattan furniture lacks standards and quality systems to be checked.By applying many methods, the dissertation gave systematic research of rattan furniture. The main work and results of the study are shown as follows:1. The concise history, status and prospect of China rattan furniture producing were analyzed and studied.2. Rattan furniture classification systems were set up. The dissertation classified rattan furniture according to its functions, assortments, structure types, being used places, style characteristics, artistic characteristics, rattan material types, rattan material structure types, rattan outward material characteristics, being placed forms.3. The dissertation studied the shape of rattan furniture from the material characteristics, shaping elements, furniture composing and shape aesthetic characteristics. And from leg-foot forms, frame forms, frame support forms, armrest forms and pattern forms, generalized its shape forms.4. Rattan furniture structure theory systems were set up initially. Its structure includes component structure, frame structure, total assemblage structure. Frame structure includes its forms and its joining methods. The determining of frame structure forms is a key. And one sofa-chair and one sofa structure were designed practically.5. The dissertation generalized rattan furniture producing technology. Its producing key segments have the handling of material, the fastening of frame, the weaving of surface, the sealing of surface and the covering with paint of furniture. Finally, one rattan sofa-chair and one sofa technology were designed practically.6. The physical and mechanical natures of rattan materials and furniture structures were tested and studied. The dissertation applied the testing measure of man-made panel profile density to the testing of rattan material section density distribution for first, compared the affecting of all factors on furniture structure mechanics natures and initially searched the mechanical nature regulars of rattan furniture structure screw joining and dowel joining. The main conclusions were:â‘ The measure which applied the testing measure of man-made panels profile density to the testing of rattan material section density distribution for first is effective. â‘¡Three rattan materials all have bigger bending strength and smaller MOE. â‘¢Many factors affect the corner connection property of rattan furniture. Material and conjunction form have more obvious effect.
