Ring spinning is widely used in textile industry. Many works have been done in the ring spinning process and found that the key factors influencing the ring spinning were drafting system, twisting and winding system. Some new techniques have been obtained to solve the problems existed in drafting system, such as Compact spinning and SoloSpun spinning. But for the twisting and winding system, effective methods to increase spinning speed have not been achieved because of its own inherence: twisting equipment and winding equipment are combined in one system. On the one hand, in order to enlarge barrel yarn, the spindle speed should be slow down; on the other hand, in order to increase the spindle speed, barrel yarn should be decreased. To untie this inherent problem occurred at present, some improvements in known twisting and winding system should be done, and new twisting and winding systems should be researched.The analyses of foregone twisting and winding system are studied. The traveler movements are divided into relative movement and embroiled movement. The differential equations of the traveler position and traveler dynamical equations are then obtained by using the kinematics and dynamics principles. With numerical method and the Matlab, the forces acting on the traveler, the numerical values of the traveler position and the obliquities of the traveler are achieved. The traveler's photographs in spinning process are shot by using high-speed photography. From the photographs it is found that the inclined angles of the traveler are consistent with the calculated results, which justify the theoretical analyses above.The paper pointed out that the friction between the ring and the traveler included drying friction and verging friction. The friction status between the ring and the traveler is analyzed particularly and some factors affecting the friction are brought forward. New equipment for measuring friction force between the ring and the traveler is manufactured. The equipment changes the friction force into strain of the cantilever on which four strain gauges are stuck. The strain of cantilever results in varying resistance value of strain gauge and the variation of the resistance value influence output voltage which is amplified and shown on the dynamic strain indicator. Based on the data shown on the dynamic strain indicator which is demarcated, the friction force can be calculated out. From experimental results, it can be acquired that the precision of the equipment is 0.5g and experimental results are in accord with the calculated results, which also justify the theoretical analyses. The abrasion mechanism between the ring and the traveler is studied in detail. It is put forward that the abrasion between the ring and the traveler comprised oxygenation abrasion, triturate abrasion, mechanical conglutination abrasion, contact fatigue, avulsion and so on, but it is mainly consist of mechanical conglutination abrasion and contact fatigue. The calculation formulae of abrasion magnitude of the ring are acquired and the ingredients influencing the abrasion between the ring and the traveler are introduced. Based on above analyses, some measures of preventing abrasion, such as selection of material and surface treatment of the ring and traveler, are presented.By means of electromagnetism, a new twisting and winding system is set up. The characteristics of the suspension traveler are researched particularly. The mathematical model and control model of the suspension traveler are established together. The forces acting on the suspension traveler are analyzed, and the differential equations of suspension traveler are then attained. It is also pointed out that non-controlling suspension traveler is unsteadiness, and that suspension traveler, which tail after the disturbing signals, is different from other control system which tail after the input signals. The transfer function of the suspension traveler control system whose input signals are disturbing signals is attained. Analyzing the transfer function it is known that the control system can be charged and can be visible.The PID control method has been widely used in industrial control area as one of the most mature control technique to data. It is researched amply in the suspension traveler system. To the idiographic suspension traveler, the parameters of PID regulator are gained by adopting two common methods. As one new control technique, the neural network PID control method contains capacity of brainpower, and has capacities of learning, memory, calculation and other intelligence. The paper used the neural network PID control method to command the suspension traveler. The optimum parameters of neural network PID regulator are also received by using grade decline method. According to the comparison of simulation to the step response of PID and neural network PID, it is found that the neural network PID has better outcomes in regulative quantity and regulative time than PID.At last, based on the summary of researches in the paper and the simulation technique, the architecture of software system for suspension traveler control system is presented.
