Disc swirl spinning is a new spinning method, which makes use of jet air to process yarn to resolve the matters in air-jet spinning. It substitutes roller drafting system with combing roller drafting system, which ensures that the drafting system of disc swirl spinning has the advantages of high drafting speed, high drafting efficiency, and little wearing. Fiber conveyor is a key component of disc swirl spinning frame. It can straighten, parallel, and uniform fibers in it by transport effect of air. Its structure will affect the control level of fibers during disc swirl spinning. Hence, the structure of fiber conveyor will affect the yarn quality greatly.The numerical simulation method is adopted to analyze the structure of fibre conveyor, which is a key component of disc swirl spinning frame. The structure of disc swirl yarn is analyzed. The questions and the key component of disc swirl spinning frame are discussed. The spinning orthogonal tests are made to determine the possible good level combination of the structure parameters of fiber conveyor of disc swirl spinning on unevenness of the sliver, tenacity and peeling-off resistance, which are inlet length a=30mm, bottom length b=43mm, outlet length c=24mm, outlet width d=9mm, inlet width e=22mm, the angle between the bottom and the inletα=30°, the angle between the top and the inletβ=148°. The flow field control equations of fiber conveyor are setup, and the second-order discrete upwind Scheme under the condition of 3-D staggered grid is got with the method of FVM. The fiber conveyor are meshed by triangle/tetrahedron cells and square/hexahedron cells respectively, and the calculation results of these two kinds of meshes are compared, which indicate that square/hexahedron cell is suitable for numerical simulation of flow field of disc swirl spinning fiber conveyor. The differential flow field control equations of disc swirl spinning fiber conveyor are got, and the flow field in fiber conveyors are investigated by CFD, error tests and spinning tests. Results show the rules that the different structure parameters of fiber conveyor affect on the flow field, which are inlet length, bottom length, outlet length outlet width, inlet width, the angle between the bottom and the inlet, the angle between the top and the inlet. With the aid of the numerical simulation and analysis, a new design of the structure of the fiber conveyor is proposed, which is proved to be effective to raise the disc swirl spinning quality by numerical simulation, error tests and spinning tests.The research results will provide important experimental and theory basis for the research of disc swirl spinning, which will result in the modification of disc swirl spinning machine and enhancing yarn quality.
