The cationic styrene-acrylic surface sizing agent was prepared by the theory of polymer design and treated the polymerizable self-made surfactant DMMB as the emulsifier for the reaction. The surface sizing agent was modified by organic silicon monomer and organic fluorine monomer. The optimum conditions of highly efficient cationic surface sizing agent had been obtained by the process of characterization, the performance testing, process optimization and reaction mechanism studies.The polymerizable cationic surfactant-Methyl Acryloyloxyethyl 14 alkyl 2-ethyl bromide (DMMB) was synthesized by the raw materials of dimethyl amine ethyl methacrylate (DM) and myristylbromide (MB), at the same time the hydroquinone was treated as polymerization inhibitor. DMMB was analyzed by the methods of IR, NMR, element analysis, high-performance liquid chromatography and other methods.The target products were characterized and its surface activity was reaserched. The experimental optimum conditions as follows:dimethyl amine ethyl methacrylate (DM) and myristylbromide (MB) mass ratio of 1:1, adding amount of hydroquinone inhibitor 0.2%, stirring speed 200rpm, the reaction temperature was 45℃, reaction time was 48 hours, geting a white powder-like DMMB, the recovery rate of 85%. The polymerizable surfactant surface tension of DMMB minimum was 33.2mN/m, the use of curves obtained DMMB critical micelle CMC for 1.49×10-3. The normalized levels of purity of the samples was greater than 98% by the analysis of high-performance liquid chromatography.The traditional type surface sizing agent was prepared by styrene (St) and butyl acrylate (BA) as the hard and soft monomers, respectively, using non-ionic and anionic surfactant emulsifier. Though experiment,synthesis technology had been optimized. This part was mainly provide the basis for the follow-up to the new SAE classes synthesis of surface sizing agent. The influence of composition of the monomer ratio, feeding methods, emulsifier selection and use of synthetic conditions on product properties, and its structure, particle morphology, surface tension, were characterized by optimized surface sizing agent class of SAE the synthesis process. The best conditions were as followings:styrene (St) and butyl acrylate (B A) ratio of 1:1; non-ionic emulsifier with anionic emulsifiers ratio of 4:1, the total amount of emulsifier was 3%; initiator persulfate ammonium consumption was 0.5%; optimum reaction temperature was 80℃; stirring speed of 300 rpm; reaction time was 3h, geting better performance of the SAE surface sizing. Using self-made polymerizable surfactant DMMB and non-ionic surfactant with as emulsifier, cationic surface sizing agent SAE was prepared by styrene (St) and butyl acrylate (BA)-based monomer, methacryloyl ethyl trimethyl chloride ammonium (CM) for the preparation of new cationic modified monomer. The influence of its factors on emulsion properties were analyzed.The product was characterized by the methods of FT-IR,TEM and others.The optimum reaction conditions were discussed. The conditions were as following: styrene (St) and butyl acrylate (BA) ratio of 110:90; DMMB non-ionic emulsifier ratio of 1: 3, the total amount of emulsifier 2%; initiator ammonium persulfate dosage of 0.5%; optimum reaction temperature was 80℃; stirring speed of 300 rpm; the reaction time was 3h get better performance of the SAE Surface Sizing. To be the product of particle size of 0.05um-lum; latex surface tension 32.350mN/m, Zeta potential of+27.5 mv, showing a strong cationic. The reaction kinetics of DMMB emusifying cationic surface sizing agent at different temperatures had been studied. The surface reaction activation energy Ea was 24.027KJ·mol-1.The polymerizable surfactant DMMB emulsified cationic surface sizing agent was modified with the use of vinyl triethoxysilane self-made organic silicon monomer by the method of additional initiator of the polymerization method. The modified product was characterized by the methods of FT-IR,TEM and the sizing performance was analyzed. The best modification conditions of the process were as followings:self-made DMMB emulsifier and non-ionic emulsifier (the ratio of 1:3) amount of the total amount of 2% of the monomer, acrylamide (AM) water, stirring mixture evenly heated to 60℃by adding sulfite Sodium, dropping styrene (St), butyl acrylate (BA) mixed liquid, while dropping some of ammonium persulfate initiator, followed by a gradual dropping vinyl triethoxysilane, after dropping of additional part of the initiator,80℃insulation 3h, received silicone-modified SAE cationic surface sizing agent. The reaction kinetics of organic silicon monomer-modified cationic surface sizing agent at different temperatures had been studied. The surface reaction activation energy Ea was 29.265Kj·mol-1.The modified cationic surface sizing agent was prepared by the modifier monomer methyl methacrylate 12 gacetate as an organic fluorine fluorine-modified process based on the process of cationic surface sizing agent. The relevant process parameters were studied.The influence of the organic fluorine monomers on sizing performance was analyzed. The influence of organic fluoride monomer choice, the addition method, dosage, as well as polymerization temperature and initiator amount of emulsifier, catalyst dosage, reaction time, determined and discussed the impact of temperature on the polymerization rate and ultimately endorsed by this polymerization reaction were discussed. Using a time-organic fluorine monomer dropping method, modified to be waterproof performance with a high surface sizing agent. (DMMB and non-ionic emulsifier), BA, St, so that the mass fraction of reactants was maintained at 30%, reaction time, and then dropping organic fluorine monomer and the remaining APS solution, heated to 80℃, reaction 3h, geting organic fluorine-modified cationic surface sizing agent emulsion SAE. The reaction kinetics of organic silicon monomer-modified cationic surface sizing agent at different temperatures had been studied. The surface reaction activation energy Ea was 42.401Kj·mol-1.Finally, the sizing performance of surface sizing agent under different conditions were compared. The paper sheet surface properties and shape morphology with different sizing agent was studied by SEM, AFM, surface contact angle test, EST analysis and other modern analytical tools.These studies provide theoretical foundation to study the mechanism of paper surface sizing.
