The mechanical strengthen,such as physical strengthen and printing Performance etc property of paper could be significantly improved by synthetic polymer surface sizing agent,it is very essential to find and synthesize a highly effective surface sizing agent.Acrylic emulsion researched quickly because of low viscosity and good adhesion.Ideal surface sizing is cationic fluoro silicone acrylic emulsion gradient copolymer.Not only does cationic emulsion has cationic group on its surface,but also its unique structure makes it more outstanding performance gradient.In this paper,cationic fluoro silicone acrylic emulsion gradient copolymer was synthesized via the process of semi-continuous pre-emulation seed emulsion polymerization.Using V-50 or APS as the initiator,VTES and MF-6 were grafted.In order to optimize the synthetic technology,it studied the influence of the type of initiator and its content,the ratio of emulsifier and its content,the ratio of hard and soft monomer,the ratio of silicon fluoride monomer and polymerization temperature on the emulsion properties.Based on the results of the experiments,when the amount of emulsifier was 3*%(based on the total monomer)and m(CTAB(SDS)):m(OP-10)=2:1,m(BA):m(st)=3:1,the amount of initiator was 0.8%,m(VETS):m(MF-6)=3:1,the amount of DMDAAC was 0.5%,the polymerization temperature was 85?or 80?,fluoro silicone acrylic emulsion has best performance,uniform particle size and high zeta potential.The structure of the emulsion was characterized by spectroscopy,thermal analysis,SEM and TEM analysis,XPS.Studies have shown that organic silicon fluoride monomer involved copolymer emulsion and it was migrated to the surface of the film and enriched.Latex particles have not only the core-shell structure but also the gradient structure.Two glass transition temperatures are proven by DSC.In order to reflect the experimental results,under the same experimental conditions,it compare with commercial sizing agent DBJ,the physical strength of paper was similar,water resistance of paper was more excellent.Using SEM analysis of surface sized paper indicated that fiber morphology of the paper have a very significant change on the surface,and the paper surface becomes much smoother,and that the cohesive force among the fibers was reinforced.
