| Tianjin relies on Haihe River to take shape and develop, so Haihe River is the important and unique water landscape resource in Tianjin. Haihe River was once the center of traffic & transport and commercial economy of Tianjin. With the structural changes of ocean transport mode, the relation between the port and the city is liberalized which leads to the reconstruction and upgrade of historical urban waterfront area around the world. Since 1960s the upgrade of historical waterfront area was carried out in North America and West Europe. At present the reconstruction and development of urban waterfront in China lies in a high tide; the theoretical research has far fell behind the engineering construction, especially the systematic theory research targeting at such aspects as Chinese national situation, national characteristics, and historical origin as well the future development direction combining relevant foreign theoretical and practical experiences is presently in a sever deficiency and divorced from mass engineering practices so that many engineering practices do not achieve the effect as expected due to lack of systematic theoretical ground and research. Since the end of 2002 Tianjin began to implement the comprehensive reconstruction and development plan of both sides of Haihe River by conducting large-scale planning and construction to Haihe River as well as waterside traffic, landscape and land which caused enormous changes to Haihe River and the spaces along both sides of Haihe River, thus the main purposes the paper makes the research are to have an overall understanding of the relation between Haihe River and Tianjin, discuss the impact that the implementation of Haihe River reconstruction and development plan has to future urban development, urban status and eco-environment of Tianjin and from multiple angles to go deep in the discussion and analysis of the experiences and weak points in this practice of Haihe River reconstruction and development.This paper, through making comparative research of domestic and foreign reconstruction practices of urban waterfronts of cities of the same kind and combining practices as well as relevant theories on urban planning, architectural design and eco-environment, makes analytical research and has theoretical thought on multiple aspects such as urban space development, land value utilization, eco-environmental landscape, hydro-ecological treatment and the relation between the river and the port and makes analysis and evaluations of this overall development of Haihe River. This paper suggests taking Haihe River as the axis line of space development of Tianjin and the renewable value of Tianjin's waterfront area lie at the demand of upgrade and renaissance of the city. The development to Haihe River makes connect the Haihe River and urban development which on one hand drives the regional economy by making the land value appreciate and bringing the value reproduction of historical urban waterfront; on the other hand extends new urban life and vitality to the waterside of Haihe River adjusting waterside functional structure which becomes an important measure of recovering urban central area. At the meantime, as the ecological landscape aisle of Tianjin, Haihe River development has the ecological and landscape value in the interaction between Haihe River and urban environment. Multiple and complex functions such as ecology, landscape, traffic, history,culture,tourism and recreation bring a diversified interaction between Haihe River and the city which makes Haihe River become one of the important factors of realizing the sustainable urban development. In face of the regression of the port in new century to the city, Haihe River, as the axis line of space development of Tianjin, will become the aisle connecting the urban central area and new Bin Hai district with the port and will become the interior backup to the development of Tianjin port. |
