The research papers in existence on metropolitan area transportation have been comparative little in China,and have been more preponderate at atandard research .However method innovation and empirical study have been compatative little.The researchs in existence on city transportayion have some localization on hierarchy of research object,research methods and standpoints,further work on the question is rather needed.This paper researchs on transportation system structure evolvement of metropolitan areas aiming at current situation of transportation system structure and needs of transportation development of metropolitan areas in china,and several optimization methods presented is applied explorative in each level of metropolitan area transportation system structure according to inter-city corridors level,internal city level and public traffic system level and so on based on it,and empirical analysis about the correlation between inter-city transportation and industry development in metropolitan areas and some meaningful conclusions and proposals are obtained.Firstly,transportation system structure evolution of metropolitan areas is studied in this paper.A whole evolution model and structure evolution models are constructed by applying logisitic equations according to self-organization systems evolution theories,further a empirical analysis is applied by a case of nanjing metropolitan area whose whole evolution track and inner structure evolution in 1991-2007,its results suggest that whole evolution of transportation system in nanjing metropolitan area has characteristics of dissipation structure;its public transportation stucture evolution shows that ferrying service evolution is in degenerating stage,trip structure proportion of public automobiles (trolley buses) is decreasing year by year,but it is still main traffic mean;Metro evolution and private car evolution are in growing stages and their trip structure proportion is still very small.Nanjing public transportation stucture evolution accords with gradual change stage evolution features,balance of power between each transportation method is changing slowly,then Metro as a new traffic mean is being birthed and growing .Structure evolution models constructed have been making a analysis about various results because of its parameter variations,policy suggestions about forming a better transportation structure are presented.Scondly,studies on traffic optimization have been done in inter-city corridor level.Evaluation method of inter-city trip and benefits optimization method about passengers trip are researched from two angle which is trip mode and trip benfit.A multi-objective decision optimization model is put forward based on fuzzy logic and this optimization model is applied in inter-city corridor evaluating transit network of the inter-city corridor considing transformation between operability discrete knowledge and experts expirence which have important application value and practical significance in evaluating various traffic methods of inter–city corridor.Grey 0-1 programming model is constructed based on passenger trip benfit optimization to slove passenger trip benfit optimization questions in the inter-city corridor ,which expands application fields of grey 0-1 programming method. Thirdly,studies on traffic structure optimization have been done inside city level of a metropolitan area.A bi-level optimization model about traffic structure optimization of cities in a metropolitan area is construted,whose upper-level model construted is a traffic structure optimization model of urban traffic system integration considing various constraint conditions such as traffic capacity of each type of shipping,restriction of environmental parameters,restriction of land utilization,restriction of traffic resources and restriction of individual selection of residents trip,further a traffic structure optimization scheme is confirmed by a case of Nanjing metropolitan area verifying model ' s correctness .The sublayer optimization model consists of a fuzzy linear programming with symmetrical trapezoid fuzzy coefficients constructed according to the uncertainty of trip time parameters based on monthly trip utility of a metropolitan area residents and a aided algorithm:a fuzzy shortest path algorithm based on fuzzy network enviornment,which is a algorithm that urban residents is getting to destination network nodes on a fuzzy shortest path presented under the assumption that urban traffic network is a fuzzy network ,which has a certain theory value in urban traffic network optimization inside a metropolitan area.Fourthly,studies on public traffic structure optimization have been done inside city level of a metropolitan area.Aiming at a problem that taking account to both cost guidance target and customer guidance target was neglected in public transport lines optimization,a comprehensive optimization mode about transportion line structure and passenger line selection is put forwarded in this paper,and its algorithm is inflicted implementation on a six-node network and a section of Nanjing public transportation network.This mode has indeed reasonable linear stucture on simultaneous optimization of both public transport operating cost and the passenger trip,which provides one of valuble reference for us to solve a larger network planning problem.Lastly,degrees of correlation between intercity transportation and industry development is telfied by empirical research.A major element analysis method is applied to analyse inter-city traffic influence to industry competitiveness of the metripolitan area of the Yangtze Delta from 1990 to 2007,its results shows that with inter-traffic development of the Yangtze Deltametripolitan area,whose industry competitiveness scoring is getting larger year by year indicating the inter-traffic development has an important impetus to the industry competitiveness of the metripolitan area of the Yangtze Delta,while increasing of industry competitiveness has positive influence to the development of inter-city traffic,the two is a positive correlation relationship. Agglomeration index of industry spatial and industry concentration ratio CRn were applied to have a measure about agglomeration level of manufacture industry in the area of the Yangtze Delta from 1998 to 2007 and empirical Analysis on degrees of correlation between intercity transportation development and industry agglomeration of a metripolitan area . The results indicate: Intercity transportation has significantly positive effect on industry agglomeration in a metropolitan area.and the agglomeration elasticity can reflect the different influence that the changing of different agglomeration level brings on the development of economy; this entire can offer decision reference for appraising and developing industry agglomeration. The above empirical research indicats that inter-city traffic is key in a metripolitan area traffic system,highly advanced inter-city traffic contributes to highten industry competitiveness and industry agglomeration informing of a metripolitan area . So there is an important economic significance in developing inter-city traffic, particularly high capacity and high speed inter-city rainway traffic.To conclude,in this paper, a metropolitan area has characteristics of dissipation structure is to be tested and verified,moreover degrees of correlation between intercity transportation and industry development is telfied by empirical research methods,whose conclusions present a desidence reference for developing burgeoning rainway traffic in traffic system of a metripolitan area ;some optimization methods inproved was presented from such three levels as inter-city corridor,inside a urban and public traffic in a metripolitan area,and these optimization methods have a certain originality tested by some practical cases and algorithm cases.
