Aimed To The Rethinking Of Architecture Designism--Criticising & Rebuilding To Architecture Design Knowledge

The thesis is selected to deal with the rising out-of-order situation of theoretical and practical knowledge in current architectural design. It tends to rethink current architectural design in a wider context by analyzing the rationality and rational aspects of architectural design, to achieve real and proper understandings, put sound and rational idealism into present architectural design, so to provide architects with a feasible and effective thinking and behavioral manner.The dissertation focuses on answering the following questions, they form the relevant chapters:What is architectural design? (Chapter 1 and 2)What should architectural design be? (Chapter 3 and 4)What can architects do? (Chapter 5)What we should expect for? (concluding remarks)The dissertation includes five chapters:Chapter 1 introduces briefly the knowledge background of criticizing and rethinking architectural design from criticism outlines of modernity, modernity of architectural design and modernistic criticism of architectural design, to ask and argue the necessity that we should give rethinking to architectural design. It tends to present the perspective of knowledge situation of modernistic criticism of present architectural design.By citing the concept of Situational Logic, chapter 2 analyzes and unscrambles the current situation of architectural design, presents criticism and penetration of the utilitarianism philistinism as well as the operation significance of situational logic. This tends to survey the realistic knowledge situation of architectural design, and to provide a logic manner of analyzing, interpreting, criticizing and rethinking architectural design.Chapter 3 includes the paragraphs such as empressement and sincerity; interest and imagination; vitality and intuition; and integrity and discrep-ancy etc., which demonstrate the possible and necessary humanism existing in architectural design. This chapter tends to provide some humanist concern for architectural design criticism and rethinking, and through the architect opus, to transmitting this concern and spirit. Thus the everlasting captivation of architectural design in science and merit is expressed.Contraposing abovementioned reality of architectural design theory and practice, chapter 4 attempts to find the strategies for knowledge rebuilding from semeiology (glossology), typology and phenomenology, and presents the reconsidered results of them. It is insisted that the architectural design should turn back to architecture itself, and take efforts to seek the fontal meanings from the lasting human life and the regular day-by-day living world. By this, it can not only keep some aesthetic distance and unique aesthetic consciousness with individuality, but also keep the possibility of communication of architectural design language, so as to develop the potential criticizing power and rethinking power of architectural design arts, and then, to promote the robust development of architectural design.Chapter 5 demonstrates the creating manner adopted by the author reating in doing, rethinking in creating, and innovating in rethinking, and gives it a theoretical sorting and summarization. This tends to provide a real, feasible and effective knowledge rebuilding strategy. Cases are presented as evidencing.In the end, the concluding remarks part summarized the whole dissertation in 5 aspects and presents the significance of rethinking architectural design.
