Based on the available test data in China, analysis for reliability of fillet weld connections, in chapter 2, is finished. From which the reliability indexes and resistance partial factors have been determined. It is also proved theoretically that the deduced method for fillet weld connections meets the requirements of the probabilistic limit states design procedures.According to the method of pattern classification analysis based on fuzzy relation, the mathematical models are established for resistance uncertainty in friction and tensile type of High Strength Bolt Connections (HSBC). These connections reliability level are calibrated for design code of steel structures, and the optimization reliability indexes and their partial coefficients for resistance are therefore obtained due to probabilistic design method.The resistance uncertainty in compressed type HSBC about design code GBJ17-88, also in this chapter, is investigated by using statistic skill of small specimen and one called fuzzy classification analysis. The failure probability of the connections, being calculated, and the analysis results concerned can be served as a supplement or reference for further research or improvement to the code.It gives in chapter 3 probabilistic evaluations for steel frame columns of high-rise buildings based on test data of domestic heavy plates and other properties of statistic parameters, and furthermore presents, for design purposes, the load combination coefficient and partial factors for resistance of high-rise steel buildings. The calculated results show that suggested coefficients meet the needs of reliability. The expression of limit states design provided, and the design values for strength of heavy plates suggested are basis for compiling 玊echnical specification for steel structure of tall buildings?High-strength steel is widely used at present. As destination of engineering design, not only safety but also serviceability must be under control. The discussion and analysis about serviceability of steel structures supply to a theoretical reference for revision of 玌nified standard for design of building structures)).According to probability theory and the progress of modification of structural design codes recent years, the revision of 玌nified standard for design of building structures)) and 獿oad code for the design of building structures)) are studied and discussed. The effects of factors in load combination on design value are evaluated. Some examples are comparedwith current structural design code to that of modified one, and severer special attentions have paid to some important point.By now, for domestic design theory of engineering structures the "probability-based limit states design method" has achieved a lot. One of its main points is how to make structure possess expected reliability in the design reference period. To solve problems still existed, concerned method and suggestion are presented.
