The paper discusses some problems such as index system of comprehensive evaluation of dam safety, multi-factor weighting in dam safety management, risk management during dam operation, and dam group safety monitoring remote network system. The main contents are as follows:(1) Aiming at the characteristics of comprehensive evaluation of dam safety, the principles of determining evaluation index and four characteristics of weight are given. And then a general weight -system of dam safety is established on the base of the principles and characteristics.(2) On the basis of analysis of the analytic hierarchy process and the characteristics of weight, applying the fuzzy theory an expert-weighting model is set up. Taking consideration of the degree of deviation and the degree of authority, the experts' subjective weight is modified. Based on the methods of the principal component analysis and the new projecting pursuit analysis, an information weighting model is presented. Disadvantages of subjective and objective weights are discussed and the randomness of weights is studied. The two kinds of weights are combined.(3) By use of the modified analytic hierarchy process the risk identification model of dam operation is established. The concept of risk degree of dam operation is put forward. And then the analysis method of risk degree of dam operation based on monitoring data is researched. The defect selection model and the optimization rehabilitation model of dam group are constructed. Operation risks of the Gutianxi cascade dams in Fujian province are comprehensively analyzed. According to the results, the rehabilitation order of the cascade dams is proposed.(4) The scheme of dam group safety management and monitoring based on the remote network is studied, and the platform of the dam group safety monitoring based on the remote network is put forward. The key technique and realization method of the Dam Group Safety Monitoring Remote Network System (DGSMRNS) are studied, and the components and framework of dam group safety pre-warning are investigated. Taking the Fujian DGSMRNS as an example, the concrete framework and the partial details of the system development are studied.
