Establishing perfect urban traffic system is one of 21stcentury municipal development essential portion. The adaptation of urban traffic and the development of the city both socially and economically is playing very important role to the entire city and even to the whole national development. Optimizing the design and structure of any urban transportation needs suitable traffic development strategy, to guide continuously the municipal traffic in the new stage. Finally, achieve "unblocked, comfortable, safe and convenient" urban traffic system.This study aims to analyze and reform the traffic system of the Damascus according to the modernization, scientific methods, objective planning and depending on systematic science, economics, urban traffic planning. This study carried out for Damascus city, especially Damascus urban transportation, taking the real position in Damascus, based on the tendency of economical and social development of the city, and utilizing the successful experiences of developed country, make our efforts to be objective, honest, and scientific, trying hard to design traffic system more suitable for the real position of Damascus, having feasible and practical suggestions and measures, to be able through this corresponding suggestions and procedures to overcome present urban traffic obstacle, to emphasize the municipal traffic efficiency and traffic safety and continual movement, insuring citizens benefits, and that can help Damascus to meet the globalization, integration and information based requirements through economical and scientific developments, to make Damascus urban traffic rapidly reach high efficiency ,harmony and vitality traffic system.the mean contents of this study is : analyzing urban traffic developments factors, and investigating the present traffic system and it's problems. establishing strategic plan for Damascus traffic development, the countermeasures and procedures for Damascus city's traffic development, by having priority to develop the policy of urban public transport of Damascus. Through deep study of these contents, this effort make advanced development to the strategic plan and procedures to developing Damascus city. And that will promote the presence and the future urban traffic references and investigations for Damascus the capital of our country.
