Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) study, as a fundamental research field in road engineering of the world, aims to discover the regulation how pavement system performs during a long service time by the research of the basic factors that influence pavement performance, such as load, environment, structure, material, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation; It can provide potent directions and helps for the practice of pavement design, construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, operation and administration of pavements; and then offer technical supports for increasing pavement lifetime. In China, semi-rigid base asphalt pavement is widely used and its performance deterioration during the service time should be taken more concern as our country is now in the rapid process of highway construction.In this Dissertation, the study emphasis is on the pavement of expressway. With the analyses to the dates of pavement performance from the test roads, the study criteria of LTPP is put forward according to the asphalt pavement design method and maintenance criteria and also the practically performance of the pavement in use. And then deep research is carried out in this field. Finally, the design method based on the LTPP is developed.The dissertation is specified into five chapters and the contents of each list in the following:Chapter 1 is an introduction, it presents problems, narrate the background of LTPP study and establish the frame of the whole paper.In chapter 2, the requirement of the pavement performance is described, the study criteria of LTPP is determined as the deflection, fatigue, and rut, according to the analyses to the dates of pavement performance from the test roads.In chapter 3, with the analysis to characters of the research methods in fatigue study, the method to study the fatigue properties of asphalt pavement is verified, and then the fatigue damage mechanism is studied by means of theories analysis and calculation. Finally the fatigue damage standard and the design index are set up according to the test date.In chapter 4, with the investigation of the formation and development of the rut in semi-rigid base asphalt pavement, and also some of the rut perdition methods, the experiment is carried out in the lab and theories analysis is done, hence the rutprediction model and the testing control criteria are brought up.In chapter 5, the design method based on the LTPP is put forward and the conclusions of the whole paper are presented.
