The technology of initiating explosive device(IED) is one of the key technologies in aerospace engineering. The IED is the important spare part and is applied very extensively in carrier rocket and guided missiles. The quality problem of any IED may cause the whole failure for shoot, and results in huge economy lose and important political influence. Therefore, it is vital important to assure IED quality and to raise the credibility. The quality and credibility of IED not only relate with the right design and the material quantity, but also have close relation with the producing process and control of process parameters of IED. It is necessary to ensure that has no overshoot and high accuracy control of pressing powder pressure of nonlinear object—IED. The dose is the heart of IED, and pressing powder is one of the key processes of IED production. The important parameters such as pressing powder pressure, pressing speed and holding pressure time etc, will affect directly the quality of initiating explosive device. Therefore controlling the craft process and the craft parameters strictly are the keys to guarantee the product quality. In domestic, the production craft of the aerospace IED falls behind very much. Especially, the pressing powder process of IED still stays around the 60's level, and the level of automation is very low. How to implement the automation of IED pressing powder process has been an important researching issue in the aerospace science and technique research.This paper researches deeply on the theory and methodology of pressing powder process automation and key technologies for IED. It mainly includes the following aspects:①The main control factors that affect the quality of IED is studied. The researches represented that the main control factors affecting the quality of IED have: 1)the pressure of pressing powder; 2)the rising rate of pressing powder pressure; 3)the holding pressure time, except the right design and the material quantity used. The experiment data demonstrated that the pressure value of pressing powder is the main factor.②A new method with a linear buffer is proposed to improve the object characteristics of IED dose. The serious nonlinear and time varying characteristics are universal existed, and it is difficulty to establish the analytical expression of pressing powder process in the producing process of IED pressing powder.
