In this paper, facing the demands of saving energy, environmental protection and the tendency of heavy load gear in 21th century, the environment friendly industrial gear oil with high capability is developed. Gears lie in boundary and mixed lubricating condition as running. The wear of profiles does not only depend on the viscosity of the lubricant, but also on the boundary lubricating film, which occurs as the additives in the oil and the matel of the profile react each other. The free radicals and the active elements in the additives can form the absorbed film, reaction film, deposited film or osmosis film. The films reduce the friction and the wear of the contacting profiles.When the gears are working, good lubricating condition could enhance the load capacity of gear pair, at the sam time acts the very important role on the heat power. Natural plant oils and some synthesized oils have good biodegradability. In the paper, we select the rapeseed oil, PAO4 and pentaerythritol as the base oil, which all have high biodegradability. And then compile two kinds of mixed base oil. The first is 20% pentaerythritol mixed with 80% rapeseed oil. The second is 20% pentaerythritol mixed with 80% PAO4. We study the friction properties of the base oil and the mixed base oil with additives. And at the end, the lubricating effects are compared amounts the mineral base oil, pentaerythritol base oil and mixed base oil in the double rank four ring-plates cycloid drive. The testing results have proved:(1)The N-P, S-P-N and S-P additives show good EP and AW properties. And additives with P element have better AW function, additives with S have higher EP ability.(2)The biodegradible mixed base oil, with appropriate proportion, could keep the high property of the synthesized base oil, compatibility and sensitivity to additives.
