Architectures have always had various contents and representation forms, this is due to requirement of society development and reform, and contribution of politics, economy, culture, science and technology in all ages. With the development of society, science and technology, architectures will evolve over times. The Industrial Revolution created a great and excellence modern architecture. Now we have come into an information age, we not only must make use of the fruit of the Industrial Revolution to continue to study the tradition architecture, but also must study the application of Information Technology (IT) in architecture and its impact on architecture. When the conception of Digital City is promoted, e-government, e-business, e-Learning and telemedicine are more and more used, so it is necessary that modern IT are used in buildings. Like the Industrial Revolution, modern IT will give more significant future to architecture and its practice.Intelligent Buildings (IB) are sustainable buildings that result from the application in buildings of IT based on computer technology, and have capacities of friendliness with people and harmony with nature. IBs conform to human's sustaining development stratagem in ecological age. It is over 20 years that IB has been developed, IB's function become greater and its technology is more available than ever. More and more high technology will be used in IB and give IB better performance. In order to promote development of IB, this thesis mainly focuses on the application of IT in IB from the convergence of IT and buildings and gives main contributions as follows:1. Basic theory of IB: Introduces the IB background of society and technology, analyzes the functions and properties of IB, and discovers IB's basic component and its technology system. The application of IT in IB and its impact on IB are also given.2. Emergency model: Analyzes the relation of system and its status according to system theory, and puts forward an abstract model of event and gives a definition of emergency. A production algorithm, basic operation and transmit mechanism of emergency in IB are given.3. Emergency priority distribution mechanism: In order to implement integrated Intelligent Buildings Management System based on emergency management, IB emergency priority distribution mechanism is presented.4. Building automation and control protocol: Studies ISO/ANSI/ASHRAE BACnet standard (ISO 16484-5), including its basic framework, object model, interoperability, interconnection and system integration. This study is not only for IBMS oriented emergency, but also for development of building automation and control devices and systems with independent intellectual property.5. IB system integration technology: Analyzes different system integration technology of IB in different stage. Based on modern technology level, Web Services are imported into IB system integration and its advantages are presented.6. Prototype IB integration system design and implementation: According to two type emergency case, puts forward to conception of"Distribution Virtual Emergency Operation Center", analyzes its functions and gives the framework. The demonstration is also given.Finally, the main contributions in this thesis are summarized and some suggestions and directions for the future work in this field are given. As well as the main review of architects on IB in these days is presented and it is necessary for contemporary architects to master IT and consciously apply it in IB.
