The safety of dams is essential for hydroelectric engineering. For superhigh concrete-faced rockfill dam, monitoring and controlling basic status of dams by analyzing monitoring data is an important measure. However, for numerousness and jumble of monitoring items and amount, together with complex of basic information of dams, how to manage the numerous monitoring data and complicated information, then to evaluate and forecast the dam safety from these data is an important research problem.In this paper, from the practice of construction and management of superhigh concrete-faced rockfill dam, using several key technologies, such as monitoring information management and safety assessment theory, 3D visual analysis, feedback analysis techonlogy, theory foundation of monitor and analysis for safety of superhigh concrete facing rockfill dam was constructed, then was applied in the dam engineering of Tianshengqiao hydropower station. Main work was done in this paper as follows:(1)The general framework and data flow of management and information system for superhigh concrete facing rockfill dam were constructed, and several key technology for developing system, such as database technology, GIS technology and system safety technology, were studied.(2)Managing method of numerous monitoring data and complex information for superhigh concrete facing rockfill dam was studied. Using 3D model technology based on Virtual Reality, and relating 3D model with numerous monitoring data and complex information, 3D denotation method of complex information was first researched.(3)The statistics model, the gray theories model and the fuzzy theories model for analysis and forecast of safety monitor of superhigh concrete facing rockfill dam were studied. The basic methods of analysis and forecast of safety monitor of concrete facing rockfill dam were established. Based on the technology of artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistics, basic frame work of analysis and forecast of safety monitor used data mining theory was constructed.(4)The theory and method for superhigh concrete facing rockfill dam were studied. Based on neural network and evolutionary algorithm, the feedback analysis method was used, and safety assessment method for dam body was constructed. Based on separate nonlinear model used to describe crack of reinforced concrete, safety assessment method for dam face was constructed.(5)Based on these above theory, the dam monitoring information management and safety assessment system of Tianshengqiao hydropower station was developed.The system of dam monitoring information management and safety assessment of Tianshengqiao hydropower station has been applied. Up to now, the system is running steadily, and plays an important role in guiding dam operation and monitoring dam safety.
