Window system is an important element in exterior protected construction. It has many fuctions, such as day lighting, ventilation, view and so on. And the window system is also a weak link to save the energy and improve the quality of the physical environment. Old window system has some shortcomings: for example, bad heat preservation and insulation performance can not save energy, poor aiming performance can lead glare in the room, inferior sound insulation performance can not insulate the outdoor noise. So it is important to improve the composite performance of window system and the good composite performance of window system will save energy and help to make the physical environment quality better.Before, in north cold region of China, engineers focus most attention on the heat preservation performance of exterior protected construction (including window system) in winter. In recent years, because of the climatic change and peoples'promotional requirement, architectures also need good heat insulation performance in north cold region of China and the composite performance of window system become more and more important. So the research on window system is much needed.In this paper, the residential architecture is the research object. Finite element numerical analysis and experiments are used to research the influence of adjustable awning blinds to the physical environment in the room in Tianjin. The primary coverage include numerical analysis and experiments of day lighting in windows area, numerical analysis and experiments of thermal environment and numerical analysis and experiments of room noise level.From the analysis result, the residential architecture with adjustable awning blinds in Tianjin have many merits and can make the quality of the physical environment better, such as reducing the room temperature in summer, preventing the heat diffusion and adjusting the lighting distribution. After adopting the adjustable awning blinds with new materials, the merits become more obvious. So the analysis result can bring a new technical support to the architects when they want an energy saving building design with good quality of the physical environment in north cold region.
