The parallel drive system of the dual switched reluctance motors was proposed based on the motor, the power converter and the controller as a whole. Firstly, the scheme of parallel drive system of the dual switched reluctance motors is given. The input parameters of main controller are the given rotor speed and actual rotor speed of main motor. Meanwhile, the input parameters of subordinate controller contains the actual rotor speed of main motor and subordinate motor, or the average values of DC bus supply current for main power converter and subordinate power converter on some occasion. And the output parameter of the main controller and the subordinate controller are all the duty ration of pulse width modulated signal (PWM signal). Then the control strategy for parallel drive system of the dual switched reluctance motors is given. Up on the nonlinear mathematical model of switched reluctance motor drive according to control principles and algorithms for parallel drive system of the dual switched reluctance motors, an nonlinear simulation model was founded on MATLAB. The simulation with three given rotor speeds, two different loads were carried out. Dual PI+FUZZY could be adopted based on reduced torque ripple, low maximum phase current peak value, and the synchronization of rotor speed response of main motor and subordinate motor. Finally a four-phase 8/6 structure prototype of parallel drive system of the dual switched reluctance motors, which is composed of two four-phase 8/6 SRM, two four-phase asymmetry bridge power converters, and two AT89C52 MCU digital controllers, had been developed. The hardware experiments on rotor speed response at starting, load disturbance rejecting, rotor speed static error and phase current waveforms testing were carried out. Dual PI+FUZZY control algorithms were more adopted based on the small rotor speed static error, the synchronization of rotor speed response of main motor and subordinate motor with low rotor speed & full loads and with high rotor speed & light loads, and well load disturbance rejecting performance.
